Starlink India : After bagging major Satcom licence from the Telecom Ministry, Elon Musk ’s satellite internet Starlink is gearing up to offer its service in India. The Musk-led company reportedly will start operating in India within the next two months.

Starlink has finalized its pricing structure for the Indian market and is planning to offer a free one-month trial period to the customers as a part of its launch strategy. With this, the customers will be able to test Starlink’s service before committing to regular monthly payments.

The company has finalised the cost of the required satellite dish device at around Rs 33,000. At the same time, Starlink’s monthly unlimited data plan is expected to be priced at Rs 3,000, as per an ET report.

Furthermore, the satellite internet service will likely impact connectivity in India's remote and underserved areas, the ET report said.

Also, it should be noted that Starlink's low Earth orbit satellite constellation will deliver high-speed internet access to locations which were earlier unreachable by conventional terrestrial networks.

Also, it should be noted that Starlink’s pricing structure seems similar to its regional strategy. This is because the device's costs align with those in neighbouring countries.

For example, in Bangladesh, Starlink device comes at a price of Rs 33,000, while Bhutan maintains the same Rs 33,000 price point for the equipment.

Earlier Starlink received a major licence from India’s telecom ministry becoming the third company to offer commercial services to Indian customers after Eutelsat-OneWeb and Jio-SES. This approval further brings the Musk-led firm closer to launching commercial services in India.

Starlink has joined OneWeb and Reliance Jio that have already received similar approvals. Additionally, it was also reported earlier that the firm will get a trial spectrum - satcom spectrum allocation, in 15-20 days of applying for it, as per a PTI report.
