Register its sender ID and message templates

All telecom operators and messaging service providers will have to check the origin and authenticity of every message under these rules. All these steps are being taken under the Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) system which was started to stop spam and increase message traceability.

Under this, the business has to register its sender ID and message templates with the telecom operator. If any message does not match the registered template or sender ID, it may be blocked.

Recently TRAI said in a post that the new guidelines will not cause any delay in OTP messages. It was claimed in some media reports that there may be a delay in OTP delivery due to the new rules, but this was denied by TRAI. He says that this information is completely wrong. He said that we will ensure that there is no delay of any kind for traceability of messages.

Broadband price to be reduced

TRAI, the telecom regulator, requested on Friday that broadband connection rates for public data offices, which provide public wifi services, be reduced to match those for retail customers, since the number of public wifi sites in the country falls well short of the government's aim.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) discovered in the explanatory note of the draft Telecommunication Tariff (Seventh Amendment) Order, 2024, that the annual tariff for a 100 mbps internet leased line is 40-80 times higher than a 100 mbps fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband connection for retail users.
